Welcome to 'Steaming The Mainline' Productions
Working mainline steam in Britain finished in 1968, over 40 years ago. The story was not over though, and three years later, mainline steam returned to the national network, where it has become more prominent ever since. Today mainline steam tours take place several times a week, throughout the year with highlights in the peak summer when up 35 steam hauled railtours can run during one week! Steam locomotives can now be found back where they belong, on the mainline traversing routes such as the West Highland Line, the Settle and Carlisle, Kyle to Inverness and the West Coast mainline. See, hear and smell the locomotives as they climb famous gradients such as Shap, Beattock, Slochd, Drumochter, Ravens Rock and Ais Gill.
Steaming The Mainline Productions are committed to bringing you full media coverage of steam locomotive throughout the United Kingdom - be it via photograph or video. Whereas we want the steam locomotives in picture to be as they were in the one hundred years ago, we only use state of the art equipment to bring you the best of steam in the 21st century.
Steaming the Mainline – Recreating history, today.
